CARES Act Guidance

By Updates

The CARES Act was signed into law on March 27, 2020 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Act provides various stimulus and relief programs for businesses and individuals. For businesses and employers, the programs include the Paycheck Protection Program with potential loan forgiveness, Emergency Injury Disaster Loans (EIDL), Employee Retention Credit for businesses closed due to COVID-19, payroll tax relief, and a 5-year carry back for net operating losses. Individuals may receive cash rebates, be eligible for distributions from retirement accounts, get a waiver for RMDs, and enhanced unemployment benefits.

WMPJ is here for you

By Updates

Over the weekend, Illinois implemented a shelter-in-place order to address the COVID-19 pandemic. Under the terms of the Governor’s order, certain essential services, including legal services, are allowed to operate. We continue to balance providing our community our essential services while doing our part to flatten the curve. WMPJ attorneys will continue to work remotely to serve our clients. Our offices are being staffed with limited staffing and in-person client meetings are being restricted to only essential services. During this time, the most effective means of reaching us is by emailing your attorney. Those email addresses can be found on our bio pages.

WMPJ is here for you; we’ll get through this together.
