Paul A. Osborn, a partner in the law firm of Ward, Murray, Pace & Johnson, P.C. with offices in Sterling and Dixon, completed an extensive continuing legal education program in the month of September. September 7-9, he attended the American Bankruptcy Institute’s Southwest Bankruptcy Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada, where the keynote presentation featured The Honorable John Paul Stevens, U.S. Supreme Court Justice.

On September 22, Mr. Osborn attended a second seminar in Rockford presented by the Illinois State Bar Association’s Commercial, Banking and Bankruptcy Law Section. The seminar, entitled “Bankruptcy Reform in Practice: One Year after Passage” featured presentations by the U.S. Trustee’s office for the Northern District of Illinois and Rockford Bankruptcy Judge Manuel Barbosa.

In addition to attending two bankruptcy-focused seminars, Mr. Osborn has been involved as an instructor with a presentation, entitled “Pitfalls and Traps to Avoid in Division of Property Including Tax Problems and Expenses of Sale,” which was one of six different topics at a program sponsored by the Illinois State Bar Association’s Family Law Section Council of which Osborn is a member. The program was presented to 120 divorce lawyers in Chicago on September 21 and another 70 in Collinsville on September 29. It was also videotaped for presentation by videotape and webcast.

Osborn has practiced with Ward, Murray, Pace & Johnson, P.C. since 1980 during which period, his primary areas of concentration have been in family law and secured transactions. He resides in Sterling with his wife, Linda, and two daughters and serves as the current President of the Sterling Schools Foundation.
